Volunteer Information

Who are our volunteers?

Hancock Regional Hospital’s volunteers are men and women of all ages and backgrounds, who donate their time and skills to the hospital on a regular basis.

Volunteers are moms and dads, persons with careers, students (must be age 15) and retired persons. They are team players, helping our hospital staff provide the highest quality care.

How can I become a volunteer?

Persons interested in becoming a member of our volunteer team should contact the Volunteer Service office at 317-468-4252 for more information and to schedule an interview, or e-mail Ruth Nance, Volunteer Coordinator, with your questions and phone number.  You may also download and complete a Volunteer Application Form prior to your interview.

What types of volunteer assignments are available?

Volunteers are assigned permanent or substitute shifts as identified between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.  During that time frame, volunteers are normally assigned to work a four, five, or six-hour shift. Sometimes it is difficult for volunteers to choose an assignment.  Before being assigned to a specific area, volunteers may ask to shadow to determine if this would be an area of interest to them.

How will I stay informed of other volunteer happenings?

A Volunteer Services newsletter will be provided to all volunteers as well as a monthly volunteer schedule.  Signatures, the hospital newsletter, is also provided to the volunteers.  Volunteers will receive a calendar of scheduled events.
