Dr. Compton graduated from Indiana University in 1999 and initially worked as an Associate Microbiologist for Eli Lilly and Company.  After deciding to pursue a career in Medicine she attended Georgetown University for her post baccalaureate work and then worked for the Advisory Board Company in Washington, D.C. She then returned to Indiana to complete her medical degree at Indiana University.

Dr. Compton completed her residency in radiation oncology after spending her intern year at the competitive Transitional Residency program through IU Health Methodist.  The remaining years in training were performed at IU Health -University Hospital, the Roudebush VA Medical Center, the IU Health Proton Therapy Center, and Riley Hospital for Children.  During her residency Dr. Compton was elected as the national resident representative for radiation oncology to the American College of Graduate Medical Education and the Residency Review Committee. In addition, she served as the Vice Chair on the executive panel of the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology.

Dr. Compton first joined the Hancock Health family in 2014.  She went on to help open the Sue Ann Wortman Cancer Center in 2015 where she helped to establish the Radiation Oncology department which hosts state of the art technology via TrueBeam and use of intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and RapidArc techniques. She and her team built and implemented the programs for stereotactic radiosurgery for body, spine and brain which treats cancer without the use of surgery.
