AskMayoExpert
Available 24 hours a day, AskMayoExpert is an online medical reference tool developed by Mayo Clinic specialists. It offers disease management guidance, care guidelines, treatment recommendations, patient education and reference materials for a wide variety of medical conditions.
eConsults
When Hancock Health physicians feel that additional input will benefit a patient, they can use eConsults: secure, confidential electronic requests for advice on specific questions related to patient care. After reviewing a patient’s pertinent records, images and test results, a Mayo Clinic specialist will reply.
Inpatient Telephone eConsults
If a patient is hospitalized, and in need of urgent intervention, Inpatient Telephone Consults enable Hancock Health physicians to speak with Mayo Clinic specialists over the phone, and receive on-demand guidance regarding treatment.
eBoards
These live, interactive video conferences enable Hancock Health’s medical team to virtually view, discuss, and present complex cases with a team of Mayo Clinic specialists, as well as doctors from Mayo Clinic Care Network member organizations.

Typically, Hancock Health doctors will request a consult with Mayo Clinic, if they feel it will benefit their patient’s care. If patients are experiencing anxiety about their condition, and would like a second opinion, they are advised to talk to their doctor about requesting one.
Hancock Health doctors have access to Mayo Clinic’s research, diagnostic and treatment resources so they can provide more patient care locally, reducing their patient’s need to travel outside the region for care. There is no obligation for doctors to refer patients to Mayo Clinic.
No. The interaction is between the medical professionals of Hancock Health and Mayo Clinic. Mayo Clinic does not see or contact the patient through these services. If your Hancock Health doctor requests an eConsult with a Mayo Clinic specialist on your behalf, the consultation will be noted in your secure medical record.
